So What Really Happened?

On by

There is a lot of attention directed at small businesses this year. President Obama discussed the need to help and support small businesses in his State of the Union address. And one end result was the start of Startup America. Also, claims are talking about easing rules and the tax burden on small businesses in their mission to lessen unemployment. Is this the entire year of the tiny business?

Is this a chance for you as a small business owner? As a little business owner, however, it is not a good technique to hope that the federal or state governments will complete the right legislation and write regulations, which will help you succeed in the next 12 months. Hope might spring eternal, but it isn’t a good business strategy. Be skeptical of generalizations about how the economy is doing: who the winners are and who the losers are or will be. It’s distracting and frankly, it’s filled up with conflicting information.

It’s like attempting to decide on what is the ultimate way to add 10 years to your daily life. You’d be correct if you said – it depends upon whom you ask. A dietician shall tell you to focus on good nutrition. A trainer will tell you to exercise and use protein supplements. Some physicians would say hormone therapy. As the adage will go: when all you need is a hammer, the whole world appears like a toe nail. To answer this question you need to stop thinking like a little business owner and start convinced that you are running a multi-million dollar business. Why, because many small business owners have a tendency to think like a small company.

And the response to growth is to think big. 1. Are you experiencing a strategic vision that outlines your business direction for another 12 – two years? And if you have employees, do they know it? 2. What is your stated mission (or purpose) declaration? How is it communicated to your employees, and exactly how can it help drive business decisions? 3. Are you experiencing mentioned, written and used company ideals to align how you and your employees work together and serve your visitors? 4. Do you have a branding strategy that stimulates how you desire to be seen by potential customers and clients and articulates your competitive advantage or differentiation from your competition?

5. Do you have standard regular financial reviews to monitor the financial health of your business and also to help drive your decisions? 6. Do you have outstanding customer support? If you can’t answer based on your customer’s reviews, loyalty, referrals and testimonies – your answer is not yet.7. Are you experiencing an leave strategy for your business?

Every business will need a feeling of what the end game can look like. It drives growth and helps concentrate business decisions. How do one does in answering these relevant questions? Did you have thoughtful and detailed answers for each relevant question? When we talk to small business owners about these questions they often remind us that they are small businesses rather than GE, Nordstrom’s or Zappos.

And that is the problem. We have also seen companies that believe answering questions such as these is a waste materials of your time. Why Our 7 Vital Questions for Small Business Owners Who Want to Grow Their Business Is NOT a Waste of Time? A small research focused company who had been in business for 10 years was modestly successful.
